Industrialization

Thesis: Industrialization had benefits and drawbacks but considering its overall effects, it did bring a lot of progress in several areas such as politics, economics, social and dailylife, military and technology.
The period of Industrialization beginning in the late 1700´s, was a period of great changes for the whole world because it was not only a time of technologicaladvancements or scientific improvements but it was the stage for exchange of ideas. This exchange led to everything Industrialization was, and it had benefits and drawbacks but considering its overalleffects, it did bring a lot of progress in several areas such as politics, economics, social and daily life, military and technology.
After the Agricultural Revolution ended, technologic advancementswere propelled and new inventions such as the steam engine and the railroads became crucial for everyday life. Document 1: Leeds Woollen Workers Petition, England, 1786 shows the technologicaladvancement of the time. “The number of Scribbling-Machines extending about seventeen miles south-west of LEEDS, exceed all belief, being no less than one hundred seventy! And as each machine will do as muchwork in twelve hours, as ten men can in that time do by hand…”. This excerpt shows that technology was outranging human handiwork which was completely new because there was never a period in the wholehistory where technology was so advanced as to overcome what humans could do. Of course this technology was used to benefit several areas such as military. With all the new scientific and technologicadvancements, weapons could be improved too and as shown in Document 6: Russian Machine Gun, circa 1900, new weapons using the most advanced technology were developed. The image shown in the documentreflects a very modern canyon product of new technologies used for advancements in war tactics and weapons.
