Step 1 Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.

Next, configure the system BIOS boot sequence to boot from the CD-ROM first. Keep the CD in the drive and restart the computer. When the system starts up, watch for the message “Press Any Key to Boot from CD”. When themessage appears, press any key on the keyboard to boot the system from the CD. The system will now begin inspecting the hardware configuration.
Next, the Windows XP Setup Screen will display and prepare the installation program to load the necessary files.

These screens will display for a few minutes while the files are being copiedto the hard drive.

The Welcome to Setup screen will display next. Press Enter to continue with the installation.
After the Windows XP Licensing Agreement screen displays, press F8 to agree with the Licensing Agreement and continue with the installation.
The next step is to partition and format the hard drive. This step is notalways required. If you have a partition already created, use the arrow keys to scroll to that partition. Then press Enter to install the operating system on that partition. If a partition does need to be created, create a small partition (4 GB) to install Windows XP. This will make the installation process faster. To begin the partition setup process, press C to create a new partition in theunpartitioned space.

In the space provided, type 4087 to create a 4GB (4087B) partition. Then, press Enter to continue with the installation.
For the next step, press Enter to select the option to install the operating system on the partition that was just created, this should be the C drive.

Next, select the option to format the partition using the NTFS file system. Do not use the quick method.
Setup will begin formatting the partition as shown below.

When partitioning and formatting is complete, the Windows XP Professional Setup screen will display and start copying the system files to the harddrive.

The system will restart automatically when the files have been copied. When the system restarts, the message “Press Any Key to Boot from CD” will display again. Do not press any keys at this time. The Windows XP splash screen will then display.
The Windows XP installation screen will display and begin installing theoperating system.

The next step of the installation will begin installing the hardware devices. Setup will proceed to this screen.
Once the devices have been initialized and installed, setup will proceed to Regional and Language Options screen. This is where the user can customize the installation based on which country they live in orlanguage they speak.

After making the proper selections, press Enter and proceed to the Personalization screen.
