Infoxication
Nowadays, we are living in a world which is flooded with a vast variety of information available at anytime and anywhere, having access to it straightaway. Furthermore, technologicaladvances are progressing on a daily basis impacting in our routines not only for doing the best but also for doing the worst. Regarding the topic being developed here, there are different points ofview.
On one hand, should I say that The Information Age also common known as Computer Age we are facing at present, provides us with the individual ability to transfer information fully and to haveinstant access to information which would have been difficult and even impossible to find promptly. In addition to this, technology which is followed by the big monster of Internet has provided us witheasier and efficiently tolls for searching any issue we are interested in and as a result, it will improve to develop our knowledge based on what we are fond of.
On the other hand, many people areconvinced that quick and instant access of communication and information is consuming the attention of its recipients. What it is more, we are suffering information overload which is widely spread out allover the world. This issue is also well-known as “Infoxinication” and it occurs when the information we receive exceeds our ability to treat it. Nowadays, Infoxinication is getting more and moreproblematic as our digital life is being influenced by hyperconectivity, whose effects decrease our capacity to deepen, to analyze,, to concentrate and to have attention. Should I also say that due tothe vast variety of information we are simultaneously getting day in and day out, we are losing the ability to find, to combine, condense and produce accurate pieces of information and as a result itmakes our knowledge obsolete. In other words, at present, knowledge is a process of piling up facts, wisdom lies in their simplification.
