The Savior’s Call to Serve
May we ever remember that the mantle of membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not a cloak of comfort but rather a robe of responsibility. Our duty, in addition tosaving ourselves, is to guide others to the celestial kingdom of God.
We bless others as we serve in the shadow of “Jesus of Nazareth … who went about doing good.” God bless us to find joy in serving our Father in Heaven as we serve His children on earth.

Message from the Bishopric:

We are Family

What a greatward we have here!  To quote Bishop Wright’s favorite disco era band, the Pointer Sisters, “We are Family!”
We are truly blessed to live in such a great area with such great people in the ward.  The countless acts of sacrifice and service that our ward members provide to others is something that always amazes me.  I know we are truly a ward family and, just like a blood relative family, we riseto the occasion and jump into action when ward members need help.

Recently we have seen many examples of this family love and service.  As members of our ward family have had to deal with different illnesses, accidents, and other family tragedies, we have come together to help our brothers and sisters.  Service has been offered in many small and large ways that have reminded me of the Lord’splan for us and why we have been placed on this Earth.  How great to see members following the Savior’s example by giving of their time and serving others.  This showing of love through service, visits, phone calls and prayers has let ward members become a tool of the Lord and helped him show more tender mercies to those who are suffering or in need. 

We have had many, many great examples of thisfamily love and service in our ward over the years, but two recent examples really stand out as proof that a family always “takes care of their own.”  The recent Pioneer Day 5K Run for Brandon was a huge success.  Members of the ward showed their great love and support for the Evans family by volunteering in many different capacities.  It seemed at every corner (literally) there was a ward familymember serving in one way or another. 

Although the day was warm and the chores were many, the ward family was there helping…all with a huge smile on their face.  The work didn't seem like work because we were serving family that we love. 
Another great example of ward family love and service was the time and attention put into our annual Girl’s Camp.  The Young Women leaders and the Campleaders showed their love by working very hard to make camp a special, spiritual experience for all the Young Women.  They showed such great love to each one of the girls and treated them like their own daughters.  This was no easy task as there were around 30 girls (and no shower). Their service was long and grueling at times, but again they all served with a smile on their faces…because they weretaking care of family.
