2. EDUCATION.
M. S. in Hydraulic Eng., National University of Engineering, Lima, Peru, 2004.
• Graduated with highest honors.
• Title of thesis: Local scour around cylindrical piers in non-cohesive beds (In Spanish). Local Scour by Horizontal Water Jets on a Bed of Cohesive Soil.
• Advisor: Dr. FranciscoCoronado (Ph.D., Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)), M.S. Ing. Alberto Martínez Vargas (Universidad Nacional Automa de México Automa National University of Mexico)
The research carry out a theoretical experimental study of the phenomenon of scour by jets of water horizontally, on a cohesive soil, in order to establish functional relationships between the parameters characterizingthe flow, soil and scour. As a result of the study are proposed to estimate relations dimensionless scour, depending on the relationship between the internal shear stress of soil and hydraulic shear stress and dimensionless submergence depth. Critical values were obtained from the Shields function for the initiation of movement, in the range from 0.06 to 0.53, corresponding to Shear ReynoldsNumbers of 3.39 to 8.21, for an average internal friction angle of 26.1 °.
B. S. in Civil Eng. with specialization in Hydraulic Eng. (5 years program),
National University of San Cristobal de Huamanga, Ayacucho, Peru, 1996.
• Graduated with highest honors.
• The B.S. degree in Peru is a 5-year program. However most of the students graduate after eight or nine years.
Outof 85 students (class 1996), I was the second student who finished the program in 5 years.
• Title of thesis: Design capacity of reservoirs using stochastic models.
The research is a theoretical study of the experimental water availability Cachi River Basin - Ayacucho, Peru, and analysis of reservoir capacity, applying stochastic models autoregressive. As a result, we haveobtained the equation of a stochastic model for the northern region of Ayacucho, Peru, based on geomorphological parameters.
