Operating States
1 ho Plunger Lift Controller is able to Several operating states. Each state represents a time period Within the plunger lift cycle. The plunger lift cycle is the coordinatedopening and closing of valves to coax the plunger from well bottom to surface and back to well bottom. More generally, it is the plunger's up and movement in the well. It begins and ends when the plungeris at bottom of the well. Four states (OFF Time, A ON Time, Sales Time and Plunger Fall Time) are normal in every mode of operation. Other states indicate or compensate for unusual conditions. Theremaining states are specific to particular operating modes. The following definitions and illustration to the right give more details.

OFF Time
OFF time allows pressure to build while the plunger isat the well bottom it is a, OFF Time ^P^^Xe does not indicate a fault. The time needed for this reason, OFF Time is user programmable and can be optimized (refer to Optimizing Operating states).

AON Time
A ON Time is the time period that the A valve is open before plunger arrival occurs. Opening the A valve subjects the well to a low downstream pressure that, along with the bottom-holepressure, pushes the plunger to the surface. Because the time it takes for a plunger to surface varies for each well, it is user programmable.

A ON Extension Time
A ON Extension Time is a set timeperiod after A ON Time that the A valve remains open. It is usually used to compensate for a slow moving plunger, but can be utilized when an equipment problem is suspected. It is user programmable.

BON Time
B ON Time is the time period that the B valve is open (with or without the A valve also open) subjecting the well to a lower downstream pressure that helps the bottom-hole pressure push theplunger to the surface.

Differential Delay Time
Differential Delay Time, if setup, occurs after the plunger surfaces while product is received from the well. This state allows pressure to...
