Introduction
Throughout the English VIII class, we studied a lot oftopics. Of these subjects, which I think is more related to my career (industrial engineering), and of which I am going to speak because, for me is the most interesting one, is environmental issues.Industrial Engineering Impacting the Environment
A variety of environmental problems now affect our entire world. As globalization continues and the earth's natural processes transform localproblems into international issues, few societies are being left untouched by major environmental problems. Some of the largest problems now affecting the world are acid rain, air pollution, globalwarming, hazardous waste, ozone depletion, smog, water pollution, overpopulation, and rain forest destruction. Our country is obviously affected by those issues, but also is one of the countries wheresignificant expansion of crop planting is possible. Although this opens tempting economic prospects for the country's economy, the environmental impacts of fast crop expansion in other countries raisessome concerns about what could happen in Colombia [1].

The purpose of industrial engineering is the development of production systems of goods and services therefore has special impact on ourcountry's environmental management in this respect; environmental responsibility is associated with the concept of sustainability. Companies, for their responsibility in environmental issues, must achieve aperformance that will reverse the situation of conflict between environment and socio-economic development. The model and principles adopted by the company to manage the environmental challenge iscrucial, depend on the results achieved in the mitigation and elimination of environmental impacts.
