It is a pronoun that doesn’t refer to any specific person or thing. It is vague and "not definite". Some typical indefinite pronouns are: someone, anyone, something, anything, nothing, no one, etc.It is an unspecified or unknown person. We can use it in affirmative statements and questions. Examples:  Clearly someone murdered him.  Does someone have a clue where the dog went?

No matterwhat person. We can use it in negative statements and questions. Examples:  During my trip to the mall, I did not see anyone I knew.  Can anyone answer the question?

It is an unspecified orunknown thing. We can use it in affirmative statements and yes / no questions. Examples:  Listen! I just heard something!  Did Mary buy something at the store?

No matter what thing. We can use it innegative statements and yes / no questions. Examples:  When I looked around the house, I didn't see anything strange.  Have you eaten anything in the last two hours?

No single thing, not anything.We can use it in affirmative statements. Examples:  I didn’t say anything. = I say nothing.  If you don't know the answer it's best to say nothing

No person. We can use it in affirmativestatements. Examples:  Bob didn’t see anyone at the park. = Bob saw no one at the park.  I phoned many times but no one answered.
