Valentine’s Day
On this date, people send greeting cards called Valentines to their sweethearts, friends and members of the family. Usually, Valentines have romantic verses or express a person`sfeelings. People give candies. Flowers and different gifts to their friends.

En esta fecha, la ente envía tarjetas de felicitación de San Valentín llama a sus novios, amigos ymiembros de la familia. Por lo general, dan de San Valentín versos románticos o expresan sentimientos a una persona. La gente les da dulces, flores y diversos regalos a sus amigos.

St. Patric’s DayIrish people brought this special holiday to the United States. Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and, according to many legends, it is said that he healed the sick, returned the dead tolife and chased all the snakes out of the country. The particular color on this day is green and in some cities, fountains, rivers and lakes are dyed this color. There are parades featuring marches,beautiful floats and bands playing Irish music. Many people wear something green on this day.

Los irlandeses trajeron esta fiesta especial para los Estados Unidos. San Patricio es elsanto patrón de Irlanda y, según muchas leyendas, se dice que curó a los enfermos, devolvió la vida a los muertos y atrapó todas las serpientes fuera del país. It is celebrated in the United States. Americans play tricks on their best friends and relatives. They make them believe facts which are not true or putthem in embarrassing situations. Some tricks people play on this day are: making an appointment with somebody and then not showing up or putting salt in the sugar bowl.
