Over the past couple of months I have improved my writing from being able to just write alright papers to knowing exactly why and how you write an editorial, andbeing able to tell the difference in logo, pathos, & ethos. I have learned that just because your paper may seem long doesn’t necessarily mean that it is the best paper. Knowing whether you are beingpersuasive, narrative, descriptive or even just having an expository paper allows you to write a better essay.
When I first started English 1101 I thought I would be learningthe same things as I did in high school but come to find out I was learning much more than I expected and because of that my writing has Improved and I have more insight on how to improve my papersand essays . Being able to identify how you are going to start off your essay is one of the important keys. This allows you to bring the listener in and give you the chance to show them what it is thatyou are telling them about whether it is to be informing, persuading, or just to tell a narrative story. When we first started to learn how to tell whether a paper is logo, pathos, or ethos i neverwould’ve thought about how important it was especially when reading someone else’s editorial and being able to pick out the supporting details that support what it is that they are writing about. Now that I had to write my own opinion editorial on the Boston bombing it was a lot easier for me to put my essay together from seeing other authors papers and being able to pick out what it isthat they are telling me and informing me about so I was able to show that through my paper and inform my audience on how we can be safer and take precautions to keep our nation and society a saferplace.
This semester has opened my eyes in a way that will benefit me for the rest of my life. Ive learned how to improve my writing and how I write my essays.
