Argentine cinema has achieved international renown thanks to films like Nine Queens and The Aura. More recently,through the successful work of director Juan Jose Campanella, the secret of his eyes in March 2010 won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language film, this being the second Academy Award for Argentina afterthe story Official 1985. In the Andean country to the south, on the other hand, is held every April since 1999, BAFICI, probably the largest film festival interest in Latin America. Argentine cinemaalso has low-budget films that were awarded at the International Film Festival of Cannes.
In Argentina also celebrates every year the Film Festival of Mar del Plata, in the coastal town of the samename. The winning film in the latest edition fueTL-2 Happiness is an urban legend, new contribution to silent films.
