PAY AND BENEFITS
Salary is the amount an employee, manager or professional is paid monthly. It is usually done in a bank account. Some employees only earn a minimum salary. It is theminimum amount allowed by law. In the United Stated, salaries may be paid weekly, biweekly or monthly.
Wage is the amount a worker is paid weekly based on the hours worked. The term may – be – used inplural. It is usually paid in cash. Some workers only earn a minimum wage. It is the minimum amount allowed by law.
Overtime is the payment of the extra hours worked. It is the extra money receivedbesides the regular pay for working more than the time agreed.
Fringe benefits are the additional benefits that employees receive in addition to their salary or wages. These may include a company car,health insurance, company products, purchases discounts, free meals, etc. Another term for fringe benefits is perk or perquisites.
Maternity leave is when a pregnant worked has to take time off forgiving birth and taking care of the new born according to law.
Redundancy package is the payment an employee receives when he is fired. It is a package because it contains all the benefits by law.Lección 6
