Microsoft and apple are two corporations that have been rivals for about 30 years. At first it started off as a duel over computers but it has now moved on to gaming and music. Both companies were founded by college dropouts in the 1970s.apple, whichwas founded by Steve jobs, created the first pc in the mid70s and a little later created a more user-friendly computer, the Macintosh. Microsoft’s strategy was too powerful for apple to compete with and, in 1985, estebe jobs was fired from the company he helped create. Twelve years later, apple brought back jobs, which turned the Mac (short for Macintosh) into something cool that people wanted tohave. Apple has since sold millions of Macs. The relationship between apple and Microsoft is not always one of rivalry, however. They also rely on each other and work together. Microsoft makes software for the Mac. Macs can now even run with windows, and if Microsoft stopped making Microsoft office for the mace, it would be very bad for apple. It seems like the consumer is the real winner in thisrivalry. Through the competition between the two corporations, consumers are afferent more and better products.

Why is it that when we have the basics, that is a roof over our head, food, and clothing, we are still not satisfied? Researchers have come to the conclusion that when we’ve collected the basics, we set our sights higher. The most obvious place where one needs to be motivated is, of course, the workplace. Most of us are pretty motivated to succeed at work and do well. A research team led by psychology professor cary cooper at UMIST (university of Manchesterinstitute of science and technology) found that a large percentage or successful people interviewed had lost a parent, but to gain control over what is happening in their lives. Cooper also says that even people who are successful on a more moderate level are usually motivated by something negative which happened in their early lives. Two important things came to light during cooper’s research intomotivation in the workplace. The first is autonomy. You have to be trusted in order to do your work without having your employer breathing down your neck. Once these conditions are met, you will enjoy higher levels of motivation, and success is guaranteed.
