Ingles
For this writing task, you will have to write a short story (the topic of the story will be given to you in the classroom on Wednesday). This story must have three paragraphs (8lines each) distributed like this:
- Introduction: Here you introduce the main characters and the setting (when / where the story happens).
- Action: In this second paragraph youintroduce a conflict (problematic situation).
- Conclusion: Here you show how the conflict is / isn’t resolved.
The story will be narrated in past tense, so you can use past simple, pastcontinuous or past perfect.
This is what I am going to evaluate:
20 % - Grammar
20 % - Spelling
20 % - Vocabulary
20 % - Cohesion / Coherence
20 % - Structure of a short story
Inorder to have a well organized story in terms of cohesion, you should make use of connectors and punctuation. In English it is common to express your ideas in short sentences separated by periods orlinked with connectors. Here I am going to give you a list of common connectors with some examples:
Opposition / contrast: but, although, however, on the other hand.
E.g. Jim and Mary wanted toget married although their parents didn’t like the idea.
Addition: and, in addition, also, besides, moreover.
E.g. He was a very responsible worker. Besides, his ability to solve problems madehim one of the favorites in the office.
Cause / effect / condition: for, because, so, since, as a result, because of, due to, if, unless, otherwise.
E.g. He had to get the money before Friday;otherwise he would be in big trouble.
Comparison: like, just as, compared to, similar to, as, just like.
E.g. She was a great swimmer, just like her father.
In order to express sequence itis also necessary to make use of time expressions. Here there are some common ones.
- After that / then
- After / before
- Some days later
- The following / next day...
