Writing Project #1: Analyzing a Narrative
Michael Moore in his excerpt in ¨Rereading America¨, Idiot Nation maintains that everything canbe reach it as soon as you take the step to succeed, ¨I want her [my daughter] to believe she can attempt anything-that no doors are closed and that no dreams are too distant. (Moore 136) Being thefirst member in my small family to study in a foreign country I feel strongly related to Moore´s words. For me at first was a sacrifice for my parents an opportunity to open me up a new world ofsucceeds. They always let me go as far I could and as much I can, their words ¨beyond limits mija¨ but first I accepted to face many challenges before I can tell I am living the American dream.
It is hardto believe that all around you will suddenly change. That was my first challenge; I had to assume that idea. Since my parents decided to send me with my uncle´s family I had to leave my siblings,friends, and even I changed the way I would live since I moved to the United States. I had to tolerate being apart from my family, even though they were not too far, yet I missed my life. Now thingsworked different, I had to act mature. Both my uncle and aunt worked all day long so I was at ¨home¨ by myself. I realized that any concern or doubt would be resolved by my own, beginning with language:English.

I am Mexican, so my first language is Spanish. I began my 10th grade here and with no English background my major challenge started there. It is hard when a new atmosphere that isaround you do not talk the same language as you do. I did not have the opportunity to learn as fast I wanted. I initiated in the ELD program (English Learners Development) in my school so while I waspreparing for English also I managed myself to learn new subjects as well. But I did not give up, I was eager affronting whenever destination prepared for me. Fortunately I had my parent´s guidance...
