Crime and Punishment In The UK (Short Version)
(Opening music fades away when I start talking)
Hello ladies and gentlemen, some of you requested that you would like podcasts about life and politicsin Britain. The subject of the podcast today is a difficult and serious one. It’s about a small boy who was murdered 19 years ago. The murder and what happened afterwards are still very controversialand arouse strong emotions in this country.
In February 1993, James Bulger was nearly 3 years old. He lived in Bootle, which is a town north of Liverpool. . One day he went shopping with his motherDenise. She went into a butcher’s shop to buy some meat. James stayed outside. When Denise returned a few minutes later, James was gone.
Some children found James’s body on ground beside a railwayline a few days later. He had been beaten to death with bricks, stones and an iron bar. Whoever had killed him then placed James’s body on the railway line, so that it would look as if he had beenkilled by a train.
After this short intro I will continue and talk about who killed him and how they found that out.
Then I will have an interview with Denise who is James mother and there will bequestions such as…

After this interview I will go out in thestreets of Liverpool and ask the local people about heir opinions on this incident that happened 19 years ago. There will be questions such as…

After the interview I will continue on and talk about what happened when the 2 murders were let out of jail.
Finally at the end therewill be my conclusion.
