The second conditional
Its structure is conditional If + past + and is used to indicate hypothetical conditions

people.
If she Were older,she would get the job.

Variations of the second conditional.
The most commonvariations of the basic structure is the second conditional
modals could and might, but these denote the probability that the hypothesis
compliance is still less than if used would. Spanish is equivalent toexpressions
"Maybe", "perhaps".

If I were you, I would buythat car.
Translation: If I were you, I would buy that car.

If she had more time, she would travel more often.
Translation: If she had more time, travel more often.

I would buy a nice apartmentif I made more money
Translation: I would buy a nice apartment if I earn more money.

Negative:
If we did not have to work today, we Could have a picnic.
Translation: If we did not have to work...
