Gore, Al. An inconvenient Truth: The Planetary Emergency of Global Warming and What Can We Do about It. New York: Rodale, 2006.
Gore presents a basic introduction to global warming based on his documentary film also called “An inconvenient Truth.” The book is not divided into chapters, but rather is full ofpages with graphs, charts, pictures, and easy to follow summaries of scientific evidence on the effects of global warming. The purpose of this book is to emphasize the problems of global warming and to raise awareness of the causes and effects of carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide emissions. Gore’s goal is to prevent an environmental catastrophe through education and changes in governmentpolicies around the world.

Gore’s family’s biographical information is used in the book in order to persuade the reader to be aware of the dangers of global warming through the use of pathos (emotional appeal). Nevertheless, Gore’s concerns for regarding climate change makes him take different approaches to help the reader understand the seriousness of this issue. The book provides enoughscientific proof of global warming, yet it is easy to understand.
Messawe, Antipast. Global Warming: Control to Mitigate Climate Change. Dar es Sallam, Tanzania. 2012.
Messawe offers a statement from the National Data Center that explains that the Earth’s average surface temperature increased 1.4°F since 1980. The article is divided into four categories: the first part is a basic description of thedefinition of global warming; the second discusses the causes and effects of climate change; the third examines the parties responsible for the greenhouse-gases build up; and the fourth discusses the possible solutions to reduce gas emissions through the empirical model of global warming.

The author offers an explanation of the way governments around the world could educate people and createpolicies that are in favor of the planet. It was good information; however, it was lengthy for the reader who lacks prior knowledge of climate change. The main idea is that a country with a growing population will have higher energy demands, and if those demands are not met with clean energy, the effects of global warming will grow exponentially.

Clemmitt, Marcia. “Climate Change.” CQ Researcher16.4 (2006): 73-96. Web. 30 Oct. 2012.

The article discusses climate change—causes and possible solutions. Clemmitt focuses on the responsibility that governments in all countries should assume to eliminate the greenhouse gas emissions that are raising temperatures globally. She emphasizes the fact that most countries are trying to do their part by adopting the Kyoto Protocols with the exceptionof the United States, India, and China—the biggest offenders of CO2 gas emissions.

Although climate change is a complex topic, the author makes the article clear and easy to follow. Clemmitt also makes use of a timeline to better illustrate the significant changes in climate and, as a consequence, changes in government policies from 1600-2009. The author does not disclose personal opinionsabout the topic; rather, she focuses on the scientific studies and facts.

Greenblatt, Alan. “Confronting Warming.” CQ Researcher 19.1 (2009): 1-24. Web. 30 Oct. 2012.

Alan Greenblatt offers an introduction to global warming. He explains that climate change is caused by greenhouse gas emissions, which are emitted when carbon-based fossil fuels like oil, coal, and natural gas are burned. Hisresearch is based on serious efforts by some states in the USA to address climate change. The article tries to prove a point using three main questions: Should states regulate carbon emissions? Can local governments prevent global warming? and Should state and local governments do more to prepare for the consequences of climate change?

Greenblatt is disappointment about the absence of federal...
