Human Physiology Research Project Timeline and Checklist

Your project for this semester is to research a specific topic related to human physiology and present your findings to the class. Youwill also have to submit a paper with your presentation. This project will take much work so make sure you pick a topic that motivates you. Specific instructions will be given during the semester, but Ihave made this timeline to keep you on tract.

LIBRARY RESEARCH AND CHOOSING A TOPIC (Week 4)
___ We will go to the library and learn how to research topics through scientific databases. Meet inlibrary on 2/7 at 5 pm. After the library presentation, we will convene back in the lab to discuss project.

TOPIC AND GROUP MEMBERS (Week 5)
___ Choose your topic based on your interests. You canwork in groups of 2-4 if you like. Exchange phone numbers and emails with group members.

READING THE LITERATURE WRITING YOUR PAPER (Weeks 5-11)
___ Begin literature search. You will come acrossmany relevant and some irrelevant
articles. You can’t read them all, but quality time spent early on can help narrow the scope of your question pointing you to more interesting articles.

___ Shareyour articles with your group either by providing a brief summary during lab. Discussing what you have read is an important aspect of your learning.

___A list of all the articles (bibliography) youmight use is to be turned in by 3/7. This is to be done individually. This list may change before you are done with this paper so I don’t expect it to be exact.

___ Submit rough drafts during lab on3/21.
We will go over the steps to writing a good paper during lab on 2/28. It is important you write a good rough draft so that I can give you feedback which will make your final paperbetter

FINISHING YOUR PAPER (Week 12)
___On 4/4 we will meet in lab and go over the comments on your paper
FINAL PAPERS DUE 4/11

PRESENTATIONS (Weeks 13-18)
