INTRODUCTION
This document is a working compilation of terminological choices made by the translation team that issues official translations ofdocuments issued by the Administrative Office of the Courts. It is updated each time new documents present translation challenges resolved by the team. The primary purpose of the Glossary is to be a guide to the Judiciary’s translation program in order to promote uniform translation where appropriate. If court interpreters can use it as a reference tool when working on the terminologicalchallenges they encounter, then that is a wonderful additional benefit. The Glossary is NOT intended to be an authoritative reference document that determines once and for all the only correct way to translate an English word or phrase. While there are certainly many wrong and unacceptable ways to translate a word or phrase, it is equally true that there is rarely only one correct way to translate a wordor phrase. The team consists of the following expert linguists: Ellie de la Bandera, ATA-accredited translator in English to Spanish and Spanish to English; M.A. in Spanish Translation, Rutgers University; Certified Spanish interpreter by the AOUSC Elvira Suros Casal, ATA-accredited translator in English to Spanish and Spanish to English; Certified Spanish interpreter by the AOUSC; AOC-approvedmaster Spanish interpreter
