Islam
Islam is the religion founded by the Prophet Muhammad (570-632 AD), in 622, in Yatribe (now Medina in Saudi Arabia). The Arabic word Islam means "submission to God", and the followers of thisreligion are called Muslims (followers of Muhammad) or Muslims (the word comes from the Arabic "mussulmini" which gives his body and soul to God).

In Islam there is no professional priesthood, andfans are advised to refrain from drinking wine. In addition to the acceptance and the recitation of the creed "chahada", the devotee has four duties still: prayer, fasting during the lunar month ofRamadan, the distribution of alms and pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca, if you possible.

It is a missionary religion. However, Muslims do not believe the Jews and the Christians as pagans and,usually, once allowed them to continue practicing their religion when they were conquered. In past centuries the Muslim armies occupied much of India and once arrived at the outskirts of Paris.Islam-even when trying to rectify this now-adopted certain practices, such as war, used as a means to spread the religion and the state, polygamy, slavery and intolerance.

The Basic Beliefs of IslamWhile the beliefs of Muslims worldwide are almost as diverse as those between Christians, there are six basic articles of faith common to almost all Muslims.

The first of these is that there is no"God" out of Allah (But Allah is not the God of the Bible). The pre-Islamic Arabs were polytheists. But Muhammad was able to devote himself exclusively to take principal "God" of the pantheon, theycalled Allah (which simply means "God"). Deity worship or attribute to another being is considered blasphemy. The Qur'an mentions many names of Allah, and these names are frequently on the lips ofdevout Muslims who believe they have an almost magical power.
