Language
Italy has numerous dialects spoken all over the country and some Italians cannot speak Italian at all. However, the establishment of a national education system has led to decrease invariation in the languages spoken across the country. Italy’s official language is Italian. Ethnologies have estimated that there are about 55 million speakers of the language in Italy and a further6.7 million outside of the country. However, between 120 and 150 million people use Italian as a second or cultural language, worldwide.

Culture
Rome, the capital of Italy, has for centuries been apolitical and religious centre of Western civilization as the capital of the Roman Empire and site of the Holy See. .Italy did not exist as a state until the country's unification in 1861. Due to thiscomparatively late unification, and the historical autonomy of the regions that comprise the Italian Peninsula, many traditions and customs that are now recognized as distinctly Italian can be identifiedby their regions of origin. Despite the political and social distinction of these regions, Italy's contributions to the cultural and historical heritage of Europe and the world remain immense. Italyis home to the greatest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites to date, and has rich collections of art, culture and literature from many different periods.

Music
From folk music to classical,music has always played an important role in Italian culture. Instruments associated with classical music, including the piano and violin, were invented in Italy, and many of the prevailing classicalmusic forms, such as the symphony, concerto, and sonata, can trace their roots back to innovations of 16th and 17th century Italian music.
Cuisine
