1. Company/industry Overview

Tesla Motors was founded in 2003 by a group of intrepid Silicon Valley engineers. It has 3 different products, the model X, model S and the roadster. There are more than 37 countries that already have one of these cars on the roads. The company has 31 stores & locations worldwide and already more than 2,000 employees, and this is already considered a bigbusiness. In 2003 there were two independent teams trying to get to the market. One team had Martin Eberhard, Marc Tarpenning and Ian Wright, and the other team had Elon Musk and JB Straubel. “Tom Gage, CEO of AC Propulsion, proposed that both teams join forces to maximize the chances of success. After they agreed, and they formed TESLA.”

Tesla also sells electric drive components, including battery packs to other automakers like Daimler and Toyota. Tesla first product was the Roadster, they wanted to make a sports car completely electric, and they want it to compete with the other sports cars.

2. Product Review

The new Roadster car from the Tesla Motors Company is an electric sports car that has features as no other car. The Roadster ranks among the most desired sports cars because of its engineering in general.

“The Roadster is powered by a 3-Phase Alternating Current Induction Motor. Small, but strong, the motor weighsjust over 115 pounds. 375 volts push up to 900 Amps of current into the motor to create magnetic fields. It delivers 288 peak horsepower and 295 lbs-ft of torque at the driver's command. At top speed, the motor is spinning at 14,000 revolutions per minute.”
Roadster has the industry’s best battery. It has a motor that is made of Lithium-ion battery technology, which allows fast acceleration,safety, range and reliability.
Since it’s an electric car, it can be charged from any outlet (120-volt or 240-volt) and the complete charge of the car (that takes around 4 hours) makes it is able to drive 245 miles. The interesting thing is that it can be plugged-in in any power outlet!
Besides, the fact that it is electric is good for the economy of the owner since gas is really expensive. Wecan see a chart that compares the annual fuel cost of different types of cars. The electric car is located in the lowest fuel cost, being $300 annual below of the plug-in hybrid, which is the second least expensive.

“Petroleum will not last forever, Petroleum currently fuels 95% of the United States transportation sector, a sector that demands nearly 28% of total energy usage reducing the use ofoil for transportation can quickly increase independence and reduce emissions.” By Tesla engineers, these are the most advanced engineers on electric technology. When someone sees this it would promote a feeling for the planet and would try to make something for it, and that’s how he or she are going to buy a green car.

The product was created in Silicon Valley. It has a regenerative brakingsystem that is controlled by the Power Electronics Module.
Talking about the efficiency of the fuel, Tesla’s Roadster is the best between the hybrid, the computer car, and the sports car.
