Plot:
Beginning: a girl named Tessa gray travels to London to find her brother Nathaniel gray because he is her only family alive after thedead of their aunt Harriet.
Two shadow hunters James carstairs and William herondale investigate some mundane murders.
Tessa is greeted by the dark sisters who are warlocks and train her to use her“ability” which is to shape shift.
Tessa is rescue by the London shadow hunter enclave.

Middle:
Tessa starts living in the London institute while the shadow hunters try to find out what does thedark sisters wanted with her. They find out that the dark sisters were working for someone called the magister who is the leader of the pandemonium club. A club of downwolders and mundanes withknowledge of the shadow world hang out. They are also looking for Nathaniel so they go talk to his employer axel mortmain a mundane that is part of the pandemonium club
They discover that the magister isde quincey the head of the London vampire clan and a downwolder that hates shadow hunters a lot.
The shadow hunters of the London enclave raid the place where the pandemonium club had their meetingsand kill almost all of the bad guys but de quincey escape. They find Nathaniel who will spend most of the time sleeping or delusioning

End:
Mortmain gives the shadow hunters the location of dequincey last safe house. So they go raid it. Meanwhile Tessa and James go for a walk and they encounter a group of clockwork creatures (this machines had already appear on the story but they appear justas things the good guys have to fight) James protects Tessa but his illness don’t let him fight with enough strength (he is addict to a potion he was exposed as a child when torture by a demon now hehas to consume that to have strength) the machines injure James but they finally escape and get to the institute. They were following by the creature that now have James blood and can now open the...
