_ El símbol més important de la novel·la i el més significatiu són els coloms que en la primera part simbolitzen una vida amb el seu marit, criador de coloms, angoixant i frustrant, quesignificativament li canviarà el seu nom per el de Colometa .
Amb l’acte d’acabar amb els coloms la protagonista s’alliberarà d’aquesta vida frustrant.
En l’ultima part del llibre els coloms seran unelement del record de la protagonista.
