HowTo - 401 - Equipment How To Set Up A Printer Using An IP Address
The following are the steps to add a printer using its IP address.
1. To begin, click on the “start” button in the bottomleft-hand of your desktop. 2. From the menu select “Printers and Faxes”.
3. In the left-hand column labeled Printer Tasks on the Printers and Faxes menu, click on “Add a printer”.
This will open theAdd Printer Wizard.
4. Click the “Next” button.

5. Select the “Local printer attached to this computer” option. 6. Makesure the “Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer” option is deselected.
7. Click “Next”.
8. Select “Create a new port”. Use the drop down box to set the Type of Port as“Standard TCP/IP Port”. 9. Click “Next”.
This will open the “Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard”.
10. Click “Next”.

11.Enter the printer’s IP address (the printer’s IP address should be listed on the printer itself). Note: In our example we have used the IP address 143.25.87.15.
12. Click “Next”.
This willcomplete the port selection process. The port configuration information will be listed on this screen.
13. Complete the Port Wizard by clicking “Finish”.
This will take you back to the Add PrinterWizard. 14. The next step will ask you to select the make and model of your printer from the drop down menu.
15. Click “Next”.
