WHITE FANG
It was winter. Snow and ice covered the land .The land was silent and empty. It was the wild. But in these dark, cold winter forests in Northland, there was life.
The she-wolf was at the front of the pack. She was large and unusual color for a wolf-reddish. Next to her were two males. One was a large gray wolf who wanted the she-wolf as a mate. On her right side was another, olderwolf, called one eye. He was blind in his left eye. And he, too, wanted her as a mate.
They ran all that day, through the night, and the next day. The world was frozen and dead. Only the wolves were alive, and they were looking for other living things to eat and so continue to live. Finally, they found a big moose. They were so hungry that the whole pack attacked him. He fought hard, kicking andhitting the wolves with his large antlers. But there were too many wolves for him and in the end they killed him and ate him immediately. There was meat for each wolf .Soon the pack started to break up. One Eye and the she-wolf became friendly and they ran side by side, hunting and eating together.
Era invierno. La nieve y el hielo cubrieron la tierra. La tierra estaba silenciosa y vacía. Era lanaturaleza. Pero en estos bosques oscuros de invierno, el frío en Northland, había vida.
La loba estaba en la parte frontal del envase. Ella era color de gran tamaño e inusual para un lobo-rojizo. Junto a ella había dos hombres. Uno de ellos era un gran lobo gris que quería la loba como compañero. A su derecha había otro, lobo viejo, llamado un ojo. Estaba ciego de su ojo izquierdo. Y él también,como a una compañera quería.
Corrieron todo el día, toda la noche, y al día siguiente. El mundo estaba congelado y muerto. Sólo los lobos estaban vivos y que estaban buscando a otros seres vivos para comer y así seguir viviendo. Por último, se encontraron con un gran alce. Ellos estaban tan hambrientos que todo el paquete le atacó. Luchó duro, patear y golpear a los lobos con sus grandescuernos. Pero había demasiados lobos para él y al final lo mataron y se lo comieron inmediatamente. Había carne para cada lobo. Pronto el paquete comenzó a romperse. Un ojo y la loba se hicieron amigos y se quedaron al lado del otro, cazar y comer juntos.
Soon the she-wolf felt she needed to find a small cave. She found one near a stream. It was dry and warm. She looked around carefully, and she decidedthat this was the right place. This was her lair. She lay down.
One Eye came to see where she was, and he lay down outside the cave. It was April. Spring was coming .Water was starting to run in the stream, birds were singing and One Eye left the cave to explore.
Later inside the cave he heard small noises and saw there were five wolf cubs lying beside the she-wolf. She snarled at him, and hemoved back. He knew now that he must hunt for food.
When he came back he gave some meat to his mate. The she-wolf turned and licked his neck, to show him she was pleased. She did not snarl or show her teeth. She understood he was being a good wolf-father and that he didn’t want to eat her five cubs
Pronto la loba sentía que necesitaba para encontrar una pequeña cueva. Encontró uno cerca de unarroyo. Estaba seco y cálido. Miró a su alrededor con cuidado, y ella decidió que este era el lugar adecuado. Esta era su guarida. Ella se acostó.
Un ojo fue a ver dónde estaba, y él se acostó fuera de la cueva. Fue en abril. Primavera se acerca. Agua estaba empezando a darse en el arroyo, los pájaros cantaban y el Tuerto salió de la cueva para explorar.
Más tarde en el interior de la cueva, oyópequeños ruidos y vio que había cinco cachorros de lobo situada al lado de la loba. Ella le gruñó, y se trasladó de nuevo. Ahora sabía que tenía que cazar para alimentarse.
Cuando regresó le dio un poco de carne de su compañera. La loba se volvió y le lamió el cuello, para mostrarle que estaba contenta. Ella no gruñir o mostrar los dientes. Comprendió que estaba siendo un buen lobo padre y que...
