Churchill House Ramsgate has been running English Courses for students of all ages for over 40 years. The School is open throughout the year, so our summer vacation students benefit from the experience of our full time teaching staff. Our courses are truly multinational - we often havestudents representing over 40 different countries here at any one time. As one of the larger schools in England we are able to offer a wide range of courses and class levels. There are starting dates throughout the summer with courses lasting 2 to 9 weeks.
The location
Situated in a 19th century square overlooking the sea, the school is within easy walking distance of the town centre. Ramsgate isa picturesque seaside town on the south coast of England, with a long sandy beach and attractive Royal Harbour. One of the sunniest places in the UK, Ramsgate is the ideal location for a summer vacation course. It is a small, safe and peaceful place to study away from the noise and pollution of a big city. Close to historic town of Sandwich and world famous city of Canterbury. Ramsgate is only 75minutes away from London on the regular high speed train and offers great connections to all London airports.
Accommodation
In Ramsgate we offer homestay accommodation to our students as standard. Many of our families who look after our Year-Round students also welcome those on summer vacation courses. They understand how to make a student’s stay as enjoyable as possible and this plays an importantpart in ensuring that all our homestay students have a wonderful summer. Most Ramsgate families are within easy walking distance of the school and our younger students are normally placed within 10 or 15 minutes of the school.
Students can choose a shared or single room – shared is with a student of a different nationality so they can speak English together.
Food
Our host families providebreakfast and evening meals and those students who have elected to have full board (compulsory for students 15 and under) are  provided with a hot meal at mid-day by Churchill House except on excursion days when a packed lunch is provided. At weekends all meals are provided by the host family. Mid-day meals are normally served in the clubroom where a choice of good healthy food is offered from thecold ‘deli’ and hot buffet counters.
Trinity GESE Coaching Courses
14th July, 28th July and 11th August
At Churchill House we understand that it is important for some students to receive internationally recognised qualifications. That is why we are offering students the opportunity to take the Trinity Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE). In addition to attending 15 hours English Languagelessons per week, students now have the option to enter for the Trinity GESE exam and also to enrol in the special Trinity coaching course which will include 15 hours of extra English Tuition specifically guiding the student in the preparation of their topic discussion and the fundamentals of the exam. Students may enter the examination only, or the examination and coaching course or just thecoaching course. These options are supplements to a standard student course.
