Most of adult people could say that have grown up following the traditional scheme of classrooms, writing desks, green blackboards and particular teachers with magisterial techniques. In ourchildhood, it was almost a lifestyle imparted by our parents who off course were making a big effort to provide us with good education. I remember myself in the middle of this pedagogic learning model;receiving information about what teachers and books, decided was the best to learn at that age. Actually, I learnt in this way; and if I sit myself within a classroom again, probably I am going to learnagain; because without doubt, human is a developing and curious race that answers to instincts and learn from them, generating actions or behaviors. But how we learn? According to Laswell,“Physiologically, learning is the formation of cell assemblies and phase sequences. Children learn by building these assemblies and sequences. Adults spend more time making new arrangements than forming newsequences. Our experience and background allow us to learn new concepts” (Laswell, 1970 cited in Ageless Learner Website [i]).
Following this idea, we could say that adult people learn in a diverse waythat children do. Children have special interests; they are discovering the world, their preoccupations and behaviors are different. I cannot imagine how could I have finished my primary school if mymother has not been next to me trying to make me forget for a while games and friends and concentrate myself in a homework. Grown up people by the contrary, have professional and academic objectiveswithin their interests. In addition, they own maturity gives them the enough responsibility to respond for their own actions. They need to be helped to construct new understandings based in theirexperience and behaviors. So, should they use those aspects to find a more suitable learning methodology? Could be the andragogic scheme, a good solution for mature people like us to break the old...
