John Logie Baird
Born in Scotland on August 13, 1888 and died at the age of 57 years in East Sussex, England. He studied electrical engineering at the Royal Technical College andwas one of the pioneers of television.
Baird was never very strong and most of his life suffered health problems. Shortly after getting a degree abandoned engineering to start abusiness career in London, but unfortunately was forced to stop because his health collapsed.
On January 26, 1926, John Logie Baird accomplished the first broadcast television in hislaboratory in London, before members of the British Royal Institution and a reporter. The images could be viewed on a TV consisted of a recording made in the face of a mannequin.
Earlier,on March 25, 1925, Baird had issued a televised image at Selfridge's Department Store in London.
Unlike other electronic systems, the image achieved by Baird in 1926, it had beenvertically scanned by a disc equipped with a double spiral lens had only 30 lines, enough to reproduce a human face recognition. A year after his success, Baird transmitted a signalfrom London to Glasgow, via a telephone line.
In 1928, the firm of Baird, Baird Television Development Company, got the first transatlantic television signal between London and NewYork.
