Jordan
Jordan, officially the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a kingdom on the East Bank of the River Jordan. The country borders Saudi Arabia to the east and south-east, Iraq to the north-east, Syria to the north and the West Bank and Israel to the west, sharing control of the Dead Sea with the latter.
The climate in Jordan is semi-dry in summer with average temperature in the mid 30 °C andrelatively cold in winter averaging around 13 °C. The western part of the country receives greater precipitation during the winter season from November to March and snowfall in Amman and Western Heights of 500 m above the sea level. Excluding the rift valley the rest of the country is entirely above 300 m .The weather is humid from November to March and semi dry for the rest of the year. With hot,dry summers and cool winters during which practically all of the precipitation occurs, the country has a Mediterranean-style climate.
The official currency in Jordan is the Jordanian dinar and divides into 100 qirsh also called piastres or 1000 fils. In practice, it is fixed at 1 US dollar = 0.709 dinar, which translates to approximately 1 dinar = 1.41044 dollars.
In Jordan the eating timesseems to vary quite a bit than in the US. They had a very small breakfast of bread, oil, za’atar, and Happy Cow cheese around 8AM. Then there was a very long wait until lunch around 3:30PM. The lunch is normally the largest meal of the day with rice, chicken, and bread. Then the rest of the day was sort of a free for all. It might be some left-overs from lunch or maybe one of the kids would goout and bring back shwarma around 9PM.

Highways:
In 2001 it was estimated that Jordan had 8000 km of paved highways. Some of the major highways in Jordan are:
 Highway 15 (Desert Highway): connects Amman to the port city of Aqaba on the Gulf of Aqaba.
 Highway 65 (King's Highway): connects Irbid in the northern region to Aqaba,it takes the name and route of the historic King's Highway
 Jordan Highway: encircles the city of Amman and connects it to Jerash and Irbid

Railways:
Total: 507 km - narrow gauge of 1,050 mm. Railway companies in Jordan are:
 Hedjaz Jordan Railway: The only passenger railway currently operating in Jordan, connecting Amman to Damascus, in Syria,and passing through Zarqa and Mafraq. It isnarrow gauge; the rest of the Syrian network uses standard gauge.
