INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT

The International Business provides students with theopportunity to focus on the managerial, economic, cultural, political, and social dimensions that will prepare them for participation in a global business community. Students study a foreign language,take specific internationally-focused business courses, and enroll in courses outside the business curriculum (for instance, geography, history, or political science) that relate to a specific area ofthe world that interests them. A second business major is required to fulfill the requirements for the International Business major. Students select Accounting, Finance, Information Systems,Management, or Marketing.
Educational requirements for business majors who want to work in international business vary, and often depend upon the career goal. Students who want to work as a cultural advisoror in international banking will need more advanced degrees than someone who merely wishes to add knowledge of international business to their management skills arsenal, that is basically a 4 yearbachelor.
With sales and marketing careers being the primary functions of an international business professional, quoting an average salary you can expect is difficult. An entrepreneur just starting outcan earn virtually nothing in the first year of business. Top representatives for defense, maritime shipping, construction, or oilfield equipment can earn very high salaries. As an InternationalBanking Officer or Associate you'll see annual earnings of $50,000 to 60,000 or more depending on your area of specialization and the size of your accounts.
