American society is a deeply polarized society in political terms; manners such as immigration and education have been for a long time a matter of utter debate.So when both things emerge combined as a topic of discussion controversy is widely expected. That is the actual case of bilingual education, one of the trending subjects of the nowadays educationalplanning. The ban of the bilingual education affects directly immigrants in several aspects as academics and cultural.

Some people might claim that the ban of the bilingual education benefits theimmigrant’s students because they learn intensively and quickly English. However, the immigrant’s students that arrive to USA have to face a new language and new culture; and the bilingual education isan opportunity that they have to continue their education without any problem and also learn English. There are some studies that indicate that the bilingual education works quite well. For example thedirector of bilingual education and minority languages affairs for the US Department of Education, Delia Pompa, said about that: "Researches shows that there is benefit to children when teachersincorporate native language instruction as much as possible." (Migration News, 1997). With the bilingual education the students learn the language and also the normal subjects, while with thenon-bilingual the students learn more English than the other subjects. In addition, the objective of the bilingual education is to teach the non-English students the English and the English speaker otherlanguage, so the bilingual education not only benefits the immigrants but also of the native.

Critics of the bilingual education argue that the immigrants need learn English so they can integrate with thesociety.
