Introduction: Hua-Shan is the name of one of the China’s five sacred mountains, characterized by the Taoist Temple located on the top and the difficult and dangerous access ithas.

General information: Hua Shan is the highest mountain of the group and It’s located near the city of Huayin in Shaanxi province, about 120 kilometres east of Xi'an.
The HuashanTemple is considered a symbol of immortality and spiritual calm because of two things: First it supposed that you can feel the presence of the spirits of the Taoist monks who died building the temple andsecond because when the red guards tried to destroy all China’s Taoist Temples during the Cultural Revolution, they couldn’t reach it because of its dangerous access.
China’s five Sacred Mountainsand the Taoism: The five mountains are the best-known natural landmarks of China and since the early periods of Chinese history, they have been the ritual sites of sacrifices made by many emperors.The five Mountains are organized according to the cardinal directions of the Chinese study of the energy in the human body, called Geomancy; wich includes the center as a direction. For that reason theyare five mountains (North, East, West, South and Center). Hua Shan is West one, as you can see on the map.
According to the Chinese mithology, these mountains were originated from the body ofPangu, the creator of the world. Hua Shan represents the feet of Pangu. Reaching the top of HuaShan is a very important physical and spiritual challenge for Chinese people, especially in the past, becauseit’s supposed that when you reach the highest part you can see the complete body of Pangu by seeing the other four sacred mountains.
