UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee has chosen sites of cultural and/ornatural heritage to included on its World Heritage List. To be included, a World Heritage Site must dkdkdkdk dkdkdkdk dkdkdkd d kdkdkdkd dkd dkd dkdkkd dkd kkdkdk dd kdkdkdkd dkkdk dkdkd dkd kdkdkdkdkdkdk dkdkkdkd dkdkkd kdk d kd kkdkdk dkdkkdkdkd kdk dkkdkkd.
The Rideau Canal should be included on the list of World Heritage Sites. Built by the British Corps of Royal Engineers under thedirection of Lieutenant-Colonel John By (1826-1832), the Rideau Canal runs for ???? km from dkdkdkd dkdkdkdkkd to dkdkdkk dkdkdkdk dkddkkdk. One of the first canals designed specifically to dkdkdkdkdkdkd dkdkdkd d kdkkd dkkdkd. Along its length it has dkdkdk dkdkdkd d dkdkdkdkd dkdkd dkkdkd dkkdkd dkdkkd dkdkdkdk. Of particular interest are the dkdkdk ddkkdkdkd dkkdkdkd dkdkdkdkdk .JUSTIFICATION OF "OUTSTANDING UNIVERSAL VALUE"
Criteria met:
(i) The Rideau Canal is marked by an ingenuity of adaptive design, a high quality of construction and workmanship, and performance in theface of physical challenges;
(ii) It represents a brilliant achievement in applying and adapting British technology of the canal-building era to the Canadian wilderness, as well as a significantexample of British geopolitical strategy in the North American context;
(iv) It is an outstanding example of a technological ensemble (a transportation corridor) which illustrates British imperialdefence through early 19th-century transformation of the Canadian wilderness into the canal which survives with exceptionally high integrity today.
