EVALUACION REPORTE FINAL (INDIVIDUAL, 55%)

General Guidelines

For your final work in the course, you have chosen to write a 'take-home' report instead of taking the 'in-class' exam. This report can be written in Spanish or English and should focus on international business activities between Argentina and one of the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India o China). This work is individualand reports presenting obvious similarities will be sanctioned[1]. The due date of the final report is November 18th, 2010. The document is to be submitted in electronic version (to myself at alefalxdurand@utdt.edu and to Maria Curci in Cc. at: mcurcitautdt.edu') and in paper version (to Mariana Moncayo, or else in my mail box on the first floor). To ensure that enough time is available for propercorrection and fairness among students, reports delivered after midnight on November 18th will be sanctioned*.

Specifications

A maximum of 25 pages will be corrected (you can add tables and figures in appendices that will not be counted in the limit; for each appendix, please provide clear- reference in the text). The document should include a table of content at the beginning of the reportand a list of the bibliographical references used at the end of the report, including full citations: Author, year, name of publication (journal, magazine, website, etc.), title of article or book, edition, and page; for Internet information, indicate access date and full web link. When formatting your document, please follow these guidelines for efficiency:

• Microsoft Word document,Version .doc (please, no .docx)
• Title of the document in electronic format should follow the following template: Vespertino or Intensivo_Family Name_Chosen BRIC country (e.g., China).doc
• Single spaced throughout
• A4-page formatted
• 2.5cm margins on all sides
• 12-point Times Roman font

Structure and Contents

All reports should include the following sections:1. Table of contents

2. Introduction

• Briefly present your motivations in analyzing international business between Argentina and the chosen country (i.e., Brazil, Russia, India or China) (e.g., why (Max this country?)
• Identify 'what is at stake' for Argentina in dealing with this country
• Present your general and specific objectives in realizing the report (What is it thatyou want to illustrate or better understand?)

3. Situation Analysis

Present all relevant information to understand the importance of business and trade between Argentina and the selected country. Among other topics, this section may include (better choose few topics and develop than cover many topics superficially):

• Description and quantification of business activities and tradeflows (human, capital, goods and services, technology) between the two countries (evolution over time, projections); inward (from selected country to Argentina) and/or outward (from Argentina to selected country) flows of foreign direct investment (forms, importance, evolution, etc.) as well as number of licenses, franchises, etc.
• Comparison of business environments: using all tools(theories, models, matrices, etc.) at your disposition, compare Argentina and the selected country's business environments (e.g., PEST; CAGE); highlight all relevant elements in the business environment that need to be taken into account when comparing similarities and differences between the two countries; evaluate the opportunities and challenges for foreign firms (from the.selected country) when doingbusiness in Argentina and/or for local firms when doing business in the selected country.
• Comparison of business practices: using culture theories and concepts seen in class, develop a comparison of the two countries considering how culture influences business practices in general, and the notion of trust, cooperation, commitment, and communication between firms, in particular.
