Jules Gabriel Verne
Jules Gabriel Verne was born on February 8, 1828 in Nantes, France.
He was the oldest of five children.
His father was a lawyer and, much like the heroof Around the World in Eighty Days, he was precise about everything.
He was known for his honesty.
His mother, Sophie Allotte, came from a family of ship builders and sea captains.
About1848, in conjunction with Michel Carré, he began writing.
Jules Gabriel Verne was a French author from Brittany who pioneered the science-fiction genre.
He is best known for novels such as;
A Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864),
The Adventures of Captain Hatteras in 1864.
Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870),
Around the World in Eighty Days (1873).
He waspopular with all kinds of readers: rich, poor, young, old, scientists, artists and rulers. He wrote over 8O books mostly before 1900 and a few of the things he described were: helicopters, modernweapons, movies with sound, television and rockets.
Verne wrote about space, air, and underwater travel before air travel and practical submarines were invented, and before practical means of spacetravel had been devised.
He is the third most translated individual author in the world.
Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne is a novel that literally plunges the reader into thecenter of the earth
through vivid description, detailed explanations, and the “eyewitness” accounts of the narrator.
On the most basic level, Journey is an adventure story, a tale of the obstacles,encounters, and wonders.
