Kyoto Protocol: Mexico

This essay explains what Kyoto Protocol is about and how Mexico participates in it.
We know that we are guilty of climate change in our world, so that’s why some years ago,a group of countries had a meeting when they agreed to stop greenhouse gas emissions.
They created, in 1997, a protocol that is called “Kyoto Protocol”. It has three mechanisms that are supposed tohelp the earth: Emissions trading, Clean development mechanism and Joint Implementation.
It has also two groups of countries: Those which are developed countries and the others that are developingcountries.
Of course we know that developed countries are the principally responsible of the high levels of greenhouse emissions only because one reason: they have always had a lot of industrialactivity. And they will not have to pay a lot of money because they have good infrastructure to lead with the consequences of climate change.
But, in the other hand, developing countries will have to spenda lot of money, because they are not well prepared to resist climate change.
However, they are 184 countries that have ratified this protocol. And there is only one which has refused to sign it:USA. It is a little bit illogical, because this country produces more than the 25% of the greenhouse gas emissions all over the world.
Mexico produces the 2% of greenhouse gasses with emissions forabout 4 tons of carbon per year. And it signed the protocol on February 2005 when Vicente Fox was the president.
On September 30th there was a meeting related with the Kyoto Protocol, and Mexicodeclared it will going to make a better effort according to its capacities to stop the emissions it produces, and it also said that the establishment of a multinational fund would be a good idea.
