ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether or not gifted children should have a separate education system than kids with a regular IQ level, and Iconfirmed my thesis that claimed that they should actually have a separate education system. I have found that gifted children are always extra bright and intelligent. It is justthat they are not impressed by what is going on inside the classroom, because they think that they are not going to be learning much from it. It is also possible that theyhave emotional issues because their thoughts are so advanced and their peers are not able to understand them, so they get to feel frustrated and misunderstood, my research wasmost likely based on facts on reliable sources on the internet, interviews to experts on the subject, and knowledge gained though this whole process of investigation.Results of the study were that in fact, because gifted children do not learn like other children, they need a special environment to learn in, as does any special needs child.Most people don’t really focus on these children as children that are in needed of help; they thought that if they are that smart, they will do fine on their own. But they arewrong and because of this attitude, it have become difficult to get funding for programs and services that help this special group of kids to develop their knowledge and takeadvantage of their gift to the fullest. I also found out that Giftedness is still not well understood, and children with advanced intellectual and academic abilities are notrecognized as they should be, but we cannot go on like that, an enormous potential is been wasted and it is a shame that almost no one really does something about it.
