A manera de prólogo:
Antes de comenzar con este capítulo es importante reflexionar sobre algunas
consideraciones que hace Karl Terzaghi, considerado el padre de la Mecánica de
Suelos. Si bien en la cátedra Hormigón I el objetivo es la introducción al diseño de
hormigón armado de las fundaciones, partiendo ya del conocimiento de las
características del suelo, es necesarioreconocer que hay muchas limitaciones y
aproximaciones en los resultados que el diseñador contará al momento de tomar
decisiones. No se trata de buscar sofisticaciones, sino de aplicar los conceptos en la
forma más simple y racional posible.
