In this assignment I am going to concentrate my self on the second question, it means, how the important was the Empire to the British economy?

The period of the imperialism was between the years of 1871 and 1914. The concept of imperialism can be seen as the conquest of territories by European powers, it was a complexphenomenon that characterized this period and it was based on military conquest and what is more, it was a symbol of national greatness. The occupation of other continents was with the goal of finding raw materials for its industries, markets for sell their products without customs barriers and the formation of some communication networks in order to exploit natural resources. However, the mostimportant goal was the capital investment which it happened in the areas where it was able to export capitals and maintain a high level of profitability of these in a moment that the deflationist trend in prices in the industrialized countries had meant a significant reduction of the benefits of financial capitalism. Furthermore, the capital investment was oriented at the colonized countries orwith dependent economy towards sectors requiring a little technical shortage and unskilled labor such us mining, agricultural and plantations among others. We should taken into account that this occured often in the form of loan, so that required to the debtor country to invest this capital in the purchase of goods or merchandise in the creditor country. As a result, as major financial ties wereestablished, the greater would be the degree of dependence.

The nineteenth-century Empire was made up of three distinct but overlapping components. First of all an Empire of white settlements truncated by losses in America, was alredy growing again by 1800, however it was British North America that provided in white settelement a pattern for the most valuable expansion of Imperial possessions, secondly an Empire in India had expanded enormously since 1756, and finally an Empire of conquests or wartime acquisitions. Despite of the expansion of Britain’s colonial possessions and their commercial value, they were never capable of satisfying more than part of Britain’s needs. However before 1815 the economy of this country had overgrown its Empire and as a consequence it had acces to newregions and free trade. The integration of the world trade had positive consequences to the country because not only Britain but also colonies, previously many times relatively collected and now became parts of more comprehensive economic system. We should taken into account that advanced capitalist societies such as the United States and those of wetern found rising levels of British economicactivity compatible with their own unchained political and economic indepedence.

First of all we should know that the British Empire was the strongest and with more extension in the history of all over the world. However, the country of France was another power that succeeded in forming an empire of global importance and its greatest weight was in West Africa but we are not going to working onit.
The British Empire was a maritime empire, because it based his strategy on the control of the seas, the steps between them and the channels. It should taken into consideration that firstly the Empire was constantly interacting with the development of Britain’s modern capitalist economy, in both, at home and overseas. Secondly the Empire exerted a major influence on Britain’s internationalrelations, with Imperial issues and foreign policy frequently inseparable from each other. Thirdly the developments in Britain’s position as a colonial ruler stimulated constitutional and political inventiveness among both rulers and ruled and gave rise to a growing variety of governmental institutions and practice at home and abroad.

There are a number of ideological factors that shape the...
