“La historia de la iglesia”
Cesarea de Filipo era una ciudad literalmente edificada sobre una roca. Fue en esta área donde Cristo preguntó a sus discípulos: "¿Quién dicen los hombres que es el Hijo del Hombre?"(Mateo16:13). Varias respuestas fueron dadas. Unos estaban diciendo que era Juan el Bautista, resucitado de los muertos; otros pensaban de El como Elías; y todavía otros decían que El era Jeremías o uno de los profetas. Luego el Señor les hizo la pregunta directamente a los discípulos: Y ustedes, ¿quién dicen que soy? (Mateo 16:15). Entonces hizo Pedro una confesión noble de su fe: "Tú eres el Cristo,el Hijo del Dios viviente". Muchas cosas condujerón a Pedro hacia esta conclusón. Había visto los milagros de nuestro Señor, emocionado por sus discursos incomparables, y contempló su vida perfecta. Pedro tal vez habló con los sentimientos de los otros apóstoles, porque ninguno lo contradijo.
