David "Dave" Scott Mustaine (La Mesa, California, September 13, 1961) is a composer, vocalist and lead guitarist for the thrash metal band Megadeth and former member of Metallica.
Dave Mustainewas born on September 13, 1961 in La Mesa, California, son of John and Emily Mustaine. His parents divorced when he was still very young.
In the late 1970s, Mustaine started to play electric guitar,including a B. C. Rich and form the band known as Panic for a time, knowing the success for the first time in his life.

His former colleagues had been expelled and sent back home on a 48-hour trip by bus, during which the anger within him prompted Mustaine is accentuated the idea of starting his ownband. During this tour, Mustaine read in a political pamphlet the term megadeath (megadeath, a unit of measurement equivalent to one million human deaths used in calculations of the U.S. military)and hence came the name of this exponent of thrash metal. Later he said that one of his goals in life should be to create a band more successful than Metallica, "after being fired from Metallica, all Iremember is that I wanted to be faster and better than them." Previously Mustaine had been mulling the name of Fallen Angel, the name of a short-lived project established in 1983 with bassist MattKisselstein.
That summer he met bassist David Ellefson with whom he formed Megadeth. Then he joined as guitarist Greg Handevidt and Dijon Carruthers on drums. After a series of fruitless auditions insearch of a vocalist, Mustaine chose to assume the role himself, besides playing the guitar. In 1984, Megadeth recorded a three song demo with drummer Lee Raush. Kerry King joined the band for a fewshows.However, opted to leave Megadeth after less than a week to work in his band Slayer.
