Cancer is one of the main causes of death in the world. Research and studies show that one in three people will suffer from some form of cancer in their lifetime. There are many typesof cancer. Different types of cancer affect different parts of the body, like the bones, the blood, or the brain. Cancer is treated in many different ways. But some forms of cancer are curable andsome are not.

According to National Geographic (n.d.) Cancer is a disease that begins as a renegade human cell over which the body has lost control. In order for the body and its organs tofunction properly, cell growth needs to be strictly regulated. Cancer cells, however, continue to divide and multiply at their own speed, forming abnormal lumps or tumors. This means that new cells areformed when they are not needed and group together to formed a tumor. A tumor is a clump of cells that gets bigger as it grows which leaves less room for the body healthy cells to grow. Sometimes ifcells break away from a malignant tumor they will enter the bloodstream and damage other parts of the body.

Furthermore, there are so many different kinds of cells; cancer can develop in manydifferent parts of the body. One specific type of cancer is called Glioblastoma. Glioblastoma is the most common and aggressive type of brain tumor in humans. According to O’Callaghan, T. (2010)Glioblastoma brain tumors are notoriously difficult to fight. Though they can be battled back with radiation and chemotherapy, in time they eventually manage to grow again. Yet, according to initial resultsof a study in mice, a technique that effectively starves the tumor of the blood supply it needs to re-grow could eventually offer hope to patients diagnosed with this devastating form of cancer.Moreover, cancer is a group of diseases that can be detected early on by certain signs and symptoms.
