sherlock holmes gets a visitor
this story in april 1883. my name is doctor watson. I live with Sherlock Holmes. Hi is my best friend. He is also a famous private detective. Our rooms are at 221BBaker Street in London. It is early in the morning.
''I'm very sorry'', says Holmes.
I open mY eyes. Holmes is beside my bed. He is fully dressed and ready for the day ahead. My clock says it isseven. Holmes is usually a late rise.
I haven't got a single idea why he is up so early. ''Is something wrong?'' I ask.
''No.'' he replies. ''Everything is just fine. I've got a visitor downstairs.She's a young lady. she seems very worried. She wants to see us. I think
it's important. Young ladies don't usually wander alone about the city at this hour of the morning.
Maybe she has aninteresting case for us. Do you want to join me?'' ''Oh,yes'' I reply. ''I don't mind at all. As you Know,I love a good mystery.''
I admire my friend Holmes. He's got a very clever mind. It is a greatpleasure for me to follow Holmes as he works. I watch him find clues and solve crimes. I learn a lot from him.
I dress quickly and go to the sitting room downstairs with Holmes. A young woman waitsthere for us. She sits by the window. She rise after we enter. She wear a black dress and has a veil over her face.
''Good morning,'' says my friend.''I am Sherlock Holmes. This is my friend and partner,Doctor Watson. How can we help you.
