La Vida
Now a day’s people want to be like those people they see in television, Internet and billboards, is that alright? Companies hire people by looks so they can project the image of perfect, and so they can make people buy their products. Companies like Hollister and Abercrombie hire people by beauty not skills or experience it right to do? People argue that the companies arediscriminating but they companies defend themselves saying that it is just a way to sell their products. Marshal Cohen a senior industry analyst with the NPD Group argues that people are more willing to buytheir products of someone goo looking is advertising or selling it. My stand is that I disagree with Marshal Cohen, and what he is saying.
When people see that perfect image advertising a certainproduct they are going to want to be like them. This is a bad thing because they can become anorexic or bulimic. In this century people see more of the perfect figure in billboards televisioncommercials and even the internet commercials people are more pressured into being that perfect figure. People like Cohen who say it is critical to find a “walking billboard” do not realize what effectsare being left hiring by look.
Discrimination is the ability to see or understand small differences, as “inequality”. People who hire by look might run into various types of discriminating likeage, sex and ethnicity. The United States says they are a democracy, which means equal rights for all special privileges for none, but the reality it is not one.
I understand why companies wouldhire by look but how the good looking people actually do their jobs. Hollister hires good looking people without any experience or skills. This means they would not do a good job in serving thecostumers. Personally if they did not treat me well I would not go back to that store or restaurant. Yes, looking at a pretty face is nice, but being helped or served correctly is even better.
