1988-2000 Honda Civic & Acura 1.6 EL 1990-1993 Acura Integra TWM Performance Short Throw Shifter Installation Manual
1. Unscrew the stock shift knob by rotating it counter clockwise.
2. Remove all screws securing center console and remove console.

-23. Remove the rubber dust boot surrounding theshifter, use caution not to damage it. Put it in a safe place for re-installation later.
4. Place the car up on a lift, or use a jack and jack stands to raise it off the ground. Loosen the nut on the base of the shifter using a 12mm socket and ratchet. You may need to hold the head of the bolt on the opposite side of the shift rod with a wrench to loosen the nut.
5. Remove the bolt from thebase of the shifter and lower the shift rod that connected it to the shifter.

-36. Remove both bolts securing the shift assembly to the under side of the chassis with a 12mm socket and ratchet.
7. Remove the bolt at the transmission end of the shift rod with a 12mm or 14mm (depending on model) socket andratchet. It may be necessary to use a 12mm or 14mm wrench if space is limited.
8. Remove the shift assembly and shift rod from the car. It may be necessary to disconnect the rubber exhaust hangers to have enough space to remove the shifter and shift rod.

-49. This is the shift assembly after it has been removedfrom the vehicle.
10. Remove the 2 bolts holding the shift assembly together with a 10mm socket and ratchet. You may need to use vice grips to secure the top of the bolts to successfully remove the nuts on the bottom of the assembly.
11. Remove the shifter and plate from the rod once both the bolts are removed.

-512. Remove the rubber dust boot surrounding main pivot ball of the shifter. Clean out any old grease and dirt or debris that may be inside the boot with a shop towel or clean cloth.
13. Generously grease the TWM shifter main pivot ball pictured to the left. Install the cleaned rubber dust boot over the TWM shifter from the bottom and be sure the main pivot ball seats properly in therubber boot. More grease may be applied once the shifter is in the boot if desired.
14. Replace the plate over the base of shifter up to the dust boot. Seat the bottom groove on the dust boot through the plate as it was installed on the stock shifter.

-615. Re-install the bolts holding the shift assemblytogether. Again, you may need vice grips to hold the top of the bolts while you tighten the nut on the bottom of the assembly. Re-install the shift assembly and shift rod on to the car, this is the reverse procedure of step 6 above. Be certain that the shifter is oriented so that the bend faces the back of the car as it did with the stock shifter.
16. Re-install the bolt securing the shift rod atthe transmission end of the rod.

-717. Re-assemble the shift linkage using the hardware included in the kit. Refer to the pictures below for correct orientation of the hardware in relation to the shifter and shift rod.
