Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (Manhattan, NewYork, March 28, 1986), better known by her stage name Lady Gaga, is a singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer and pianist of American pop. After joining the Tisch School of the Arts at New YorkUniversity in 2003 and submitted to the rock scene in New York's Lower East Side, signed with Streamline Records, a subsidiary of Interscope Records. In his early days at Interscope, she worked as asongwriter for artists on the label and called the attention of Akon, who recognized her vocal abilities, made her sign with his own label, Kon Live Distribution.
Gaga became famous after the releaseof her debut studio album The Fame (2008), which had commercial success and positive critical reception, achieved international popularity with the singles "Just Dance" and "Poker Face." In addition,the album sold 12 million copies worldwide between 2008 and 2010. "Just Dance" and "Poker Face" commercially successful and reached the top spot in major markets musicales. "Poker Face" became thesingle most successful of 2009 with over 9.8 million legal copies sold, while "Just Dance" managed to sell 7.7 million legal downloads, making her the fourth best-selling song of 2009. The album reachedthe top post sales charts of six countries, reached the top spot on the Billboard Dance / Electronic Albums; simultaneously reached number two on the Billboard 200 in the United States and entered theTop 10 in many countries. With similar success internationally, The Fame Monster (2009) were extracted three successful singles that were identical: "Bad Romance", "Telephone" and "Alejandro".
