Cayo Levantado:

Cayo Levantado, is a beautiful little piece of land located in the coast of the Dominican Republic in the Bay of Samana, in Samana Peninsula. Ithas rainforest vegetation, white sand beaches and crystalline waters, surrounded by beautiful landscape. It’s a place where humpback whales are seen during the seasonfrom January to March. It’s a little out of the Samana Peninsula and is a perfect place to escape a day. This island is also called Bacardi Island because some of thepalm trees look like those of Bacardi advertising. You can walk through the island on foot in only 15 minutes.

On the island are selling a lot of handicrafts of theDominican Culture, perfect for buying gifts and souvenirs, as well as a host of colorful paintings by Dominican Artists. In the island is the Hotel Gran Bahia PrincipeCayo Levantado, is a five star hotel has a spa, pools and restaurants, is a truly excellent choice for those wishing to stay and enjoy this unique paradise island ofCayo Levantado.

Cayo Levantado has two private beaches esclusively for customers of the hotel. Cayo Levantado, was a strategic point during the struggles ofdifferent powers (USA, France, Spain and England) to take over the peninsula and the bay of Samana.

Attractions:
Beaches on the north side of the peninsula: PlayaBonita(fun waves), Cozon (Fun waves, can be rough),Las Terrenas, El Portillo and Playa Popy (Always tranquil waters). Playa Rincon is on the north side, but needs to bereached via the Samana road or by boat. In conclusion, Cayo Levantao is a perfect place to go with family and we enjoy a good fish with coconut.
