Enduring Understandings
(Students will understand that):
● There are many important aspects of theculture of Latin America, including: geography, politics, work,
economy, religion, indigenous roots, sports, food, literature, and language. The richness of life in Latin
America is something that cannot be bought with money.
● In spite of the poverty and hard-working lifestyle depicted in some of the images, the chorus of the song
suggests that Latin America possesses something valuable that isnot for sale. There is also a strong
sense of solidarity and Latin American pride that suggests that the experiences of the past--both
positive and negative--have shaped the region’s identity today, and that the region will build on this
historical background and will continue to develop, grow, and persevere.
● There are 20 Spanish speaking countries and one Spanish speaking Commonwealth of the USin Latin
America.
● Latin American culture is varied and diverse.

economy, religion, indigenous roots, sports, food, literature, and language.
● Translate, identify and understand all references to particular cultural topics in the song
“Latinoamérica”.
● Identify on a map the following: the Carbibbean, the Andes,and all of the countries of Latin America.
● Identify some images that relate to the culture of Latin America.
Performance Tasks/Other Evidence:
● Compare some aspects of the culture of New Hampshire to the culture of Latin America.
● Identify all the Spanish speaking countries and the one Spanish speaking commonwealth on a map.
● Listen to, fill in the blanks, translate, sing and analyze thesong “Latinoamérica”.
● Illustrate (with a video, power point and / or drawing) some of the important aspects of Latin American
